Named by the model.
CLEO watches your prompts six days a week across the AI engines, counts presence only when the answer names or cites you, and reports at 95% confidence. Then it acts: articles are commissioned from the citations you are losing, written by Quill, published on approval.
Definition
GEO is your front-row seat to how AI talks about your business - and the toolkit to make it talk about you more, and more favourably. We measure your visibility across the major AI engines, roll two signals into one AI Search score, audit how readable your site is to AI, and prove the result with real traffic.
What you get
What you actually get
GEO turns presence in AI answers from a black box into clear numbers, named competitors, and a list of fixes you can act on.
See exactly how visible you are to AI
We ask the AI engines the questions your customers really ask - about your products, services, and industry - and record what they say back. You'll know how often your brand shows up, where you rank in the answer, and whether AI recommends you or a competitor.
Your AI Search score - two signals, one number
We track how often AI recommends you and how often it cites your site when buyers ask about your category without naming you, and roll the two into a single AI Search score, so you always know how you're doing this week versus last. Think of it as your visibility credit rating for the AI era.
Your AI Readability Score (ARS)
Most sites are built for humans, not the AI engines now reading them. Your ARS audit checks how well AI can understand your pages and tells you, in plain language, what to fix so it picks you up and quotes you accurately.
See where you stand against competitors
We show you who AI is recommending instead of you, and why - so you know exactly who you're up against in every answer, and how to take their spot.
Fix suggestions that tell you what to do next
Knowing your score is one thing; knowing what to do about it is another. GEO hands you a prioritised list of specific, doable improvements - the changes that will move your visibility the most, first.
Proof it's working - real traffic
GEO connects to your own analytics to show the people arriving from AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity, plus the rise in people searching for your brand by name. Not a vanity score - more of the right visitors.
Fixes that land on the platform you already run
The readiness work - schema, answer-first structure, llms.txt, crawler access - is deployed into WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Sanity, and JavaScript framework websites built on React.js, Next.js, Vue, Astro, and others. It is written into the source the engine reads, not layered on top of it, which is what framework sites usually get wrong.
The payoff
What this means for your business
You stop being invisible
When someone asks AI about your industry, your name comes up.
You earn the recommendation
AI doesn't just mention you - it recommends you when people ask what to use.
You catch problems early
If your visibility slips, you'll know before it costs you customers.
You always know your next move
Clear scores, clear competitors, clear fixes.
Coverage
Tracked across the major AI engines
AI Recommendation (24) and AI Citation (10) carry 34 of the CLEO Presence Index's 100 points between them, the largest share of any surface. The Index always uses the same five engines, whatever your plan tracks for diagnostics. The full weighting sits on the methodology page.
We support 7 engines standard - ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Bing AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and DeepSeek - and 9 on Enterprise and Enterprise+, adding Grok and Meta AI, the tools your customers are already using to decide who to buy from. Up to four run active per site at a time, so you choose which four matter most for your category. Your plan determines how many engines, how many questions we track, how often we check, and how many competitors we keep an eye on. The more you scale, the wider and sharper your view.
The mechanism is silent. The outcome speaks - more of the right people, finding you, because AI finally knows who you are.
Measurement
The two signals
The AI Search score counts only answers to prompts that do not name your brand, on the five standard engines, over the last 28 days.
AI Recommendation
Recommended counts 1, Mentioned counts 0.5, and Negative or Absent counts 0.
AI Citation
Only answers that cite at least one source are counted. An answer counts 1 if it cites the brand's own domain, else 0.
Methodology
How the score is weighted
Score = (24 × AI Recommendation + 10 × AI Citation) / 34. Each engine counts by how widely it is used.
ChatGPT
Weight 0.41.
Google AI
Weight 0.25.
Gemini
Weight 0.21.
Claude
Weight 0.08.
Perplexity
Weight 0.05.
Bing Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI are shown as diagnostics only and do not move the score. The full definition, including which answers count, is on the AI Search score reference entry.
Statistics
Range and reliable change
The range is score ± 1.96 × SE. Minimum detectable change = 1.96 × √2 × SE. A smaller move shows as "No reliable change".

FAQ
Questions people ask about GEO
Each answer is written to stand on its own, so an AI engine quoting it out of context still gets the facts right.
- Which AI engines does CLEO's GEO module monitor?
- CLEO's GEO module monitors seven standard AI answer engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Bing AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and DeepSeek. Up to four of the seven can be active per site at a time, and which four is configurable per site rather than per account. Grok and Meta AI are reserved for Enterprise and Enterprise+, where nine are available.
- What is the difference between an AI mention and an AI citation?
- An AI mention is when an answer names your brand in its text. An AI citation is when the answer links to or explicitly attributes a page on your domain as a source. The two are measured separately in CLEO's GEO module because a brand can be mentioned often and cited rarely, and each gap needs a different fix: mentions come from the model knowing you, citations come from your pages being retrievable and quotable.
- How many queries and competitors can CLEO track for AI visibility?
- CLEO monitors a set number of queries and competitors per site, as the allowance for your plan in the Plan Schedule at regencleo.ai/pricing sets out. Query monitoring runs on a recurring schedule so visibility is measured as a trend rather than a single snapshot.
- What is the AI Readability Score?
- The AI Readability Score (ARS) is CLEO's page-level measure of how easily AI crawlers and answer engines can access, parse, and extract a site's content. It evaluates crawler access, whether meaningful content is present in static HTML without JavaScript execution, structured data, content structure, content size, and the presence of llms.txt and related LLM-accessibility files.
- How much does CLEO's SEO + GEO plan cost?
- GEO is sold as part of CLEO's combined SEO + GEO plan. Its price and allowances are published in the Plan Schedule at regencleo.ai/pricing. One site means one registrable domain, including its apex and www versions together, subject to a limit of 100 indexable pages. Subdomains, country domains, and separate domains count as separate sites.
- Has CLEO's GEO module produced measurable results?
- In CLEO's own client work, DisburseCloud, a twelve-person fintech, moved from a 17% to a 67% AI citation share over 90 days, reported at 95% Wilson confidence. On CLEO's own site over 30 days, the AI Readability Score moved from 35 to 96, the SEO score from 40 to 95, and the GEO score from 14 to 50. These are first-party results from CLEO's own measurement, not independent third-party research.
- Can I check my brand's AI visibility before buying anything?
- Yes. CLEO's Presence Scan audits a submitted domain with no login required, returning a read on how the site appears across search, AI answers, and social. It is available at regencleo.ai/scan.
- Which website platforms does CLEO support for SEO and GEO fixes?
- CLEO deploys SEO and GEO fixes into WordPress, Wix, Sanity, and JavaScript framework websites built on React.js, Next.js, Vue, Astro, and others. The same platform set covers both, because both write into the source an engine reads rather than a client-side overlay: canonical tags, schema markup, meta structures, heading hierarchy, and answer-first formatting. This matters for GEO specifically because the AI Readability Score checks whether meaningful content is present in static HTML without JavaScript execution, which is where framework sites most often lose visibility.
- What is GEO and how is it different from SEO?
- GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) is the practice of making a brand appear and be cited in AI-generated answers, where SEO optimises for ranked lists of blue links. The two differ in what counts as success: SEO measures position in a results page, GEO measures whether an answer engine mentions your brand, cites your domain, and recommends you. CLEO runs both in one system so fixes made for search also feed AI-answer visibility.
