Definition

Presence Growth is the discipline of growing a brand's presence on every surface a buyer looks at, Search, AI Search, Social, Reviews and the brand's own site, and turning that presence into pipeline. The order matters: organic first, because organic presence is what converts, then paid, because paid extends the reach of what organic has already earned. This sequence delivers superior results. It differs from AI visibility, which measures one surface, and from SEO, which builds one. Presence Growth starts at the crawl layer, because a site that machines cannot read cannot be ranked, cited or recommended, and it ends in the pipeline, because presence that does not produce a lead is a vanity metric. CLEO by RegenAI is the Presence Growth Engine: it reads the site the way a crawler does, writes the fixes into the CMS, publishes the content, earns the citations and reviews, amplifies that organic foundation with paid reach, and reports the lift.

Evidence

Why organic first

  • Organic presence lifts paid results three and a half times more than paid lifts organic. NYU Stern, Marketing Science, 2010.

  • Integrating brand and performance lifts revenue return by 25% to 100%. WARC, The Multiplier Effect, 2025.

  • About half of paid search clicks are not incremental where the brand already holds the top organic rank. Google Research, Search Ads Pause studies, 2012.

Summary

How CLEO does it

01

Search

Server-side fixes written into the CMS. No overlays, no tickets.

02

AI Search

Cited across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, Claude on eligible plans, then measured by GEO score.

03

Social

Heard across X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Medium, YouTube, Quora and Bluesky, published in your voice on X, LinkedIn and Bluesky.

04

Reviews

Watched and drafted for reply across G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, TrustRadius and Tripadvisor.

05

Website

The fixes are written into your own site, the surface you own outright.

04

Per surface

The five surfaces, in detail

One section each, not one line each: the real tool counts, tier gating and constraints behind the summary above.

01

Search

Seven fixes run autonomously today: meta tags, heading structure, redirects, image alt text, page speed, canonical tags and internal linking, each written straight into the CMS rather than injected by a script tag. That distinction is the whole argument: a fix CLEO writes survives CLEO, and a crawler that does not run JavaScript never saw an overlay in the first place. The autonomous lane runs on WordPress today; every other CMS still gets the audit and the recommended fix.

02

AI Search

Eight engines exist in the vocabulary. A plan buys three engine slots by default - ChatGPT, Google AI Overview and Perplexity - or four on Claude-eligible tiers. Grok is Enterprise-only for a stated commercial reason: it bills per web search performed, and the model decides how many to run. Swapping a filled slot costs a 30-day cooldown, because it breaks the time series for the engine you dropped; filling an empty one costs nothing.

03

Social

CLEO listens across seven platforms - X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Medium, YouTube, Quora and Bluesky - and publishes in your voice on three: X, LinkedIn and Bluesky. Each platform carries its own limit (X 280 characters, Bluesky 300, LinkedIn 3,000), and a partially posted thread is scored as partial, never as a total miss. The Social Score itself weights plan adherence at 35 points, volume at 30, breadth across platforms and responsiveness at 10 each, and audience growth and earned conversation at 5 and 10.

04

Reviews

Five platforms, a readiness score built from coverage, completeness and volume, and replies drafted in the brand voice for a human to post. Full methodology on the Reviews page.

05

Website

Fifteen connected integrations today, with five real write targets: WordPress, Wix, Sanity, GitHub and GitLab. A GitHub or GitLab connection means a fix arrives as a commit - the answer for a static or headless site.

CLEO is the Presence Growth Engine. It grows your brand's presence everywhere a buyer looks and turns it into pipeline.

Methodology

How the CLEO Presence Index works

One number for how visible a brand is across every surface that answers a buyer's question. Seven weighted signals, split into what you own and what you earn, on the same 0 to 100 scale as its parts. It does not replace the GEO, SEO or Social scores: it blends them.

The GEO score as 7 weighted metrics: Owned 45% (SEO 20%, Social 12%, Local 8%, GEO Readiness 5%); Earned 55% (GEO Visibility 30%, Reviews 13%, Mentions & PR 12%).Owned - SEO: 20%Owned - Social: 12%Owned - Local: 8%Owned - GEO Readiness: 5%Earned - GEO Visibility: 30%Earned - Reviews: 13%Earned - Mentions & PR: 12%7METRICS
01
Owned45%SEO20%Social12%Local8%GEO Readiness5%

What you control and can change this week: site content and technical health at 20%, profiles and conversation at 12%, business listings at 8%, and readable pages, schema and crawler access at 5%.

02
Earned55%GEO Visibility30%Reviews13%Mentions & PR12%

What other systems say about you: citations and recommendations in AI answers at 30%, ratings and review volume at 13%, and coverage off your own properties at 12%. It moves slower and is harder to fake, so it carries the larger share.

Earned outweighs owned deliberately. A perfect website that nothing cites is not presence. Nothing in the index is invented for it either: every signal is a score the platform already computes and shows on its own page.

The bands:

Leading

85 to 100.

Strong

65 to 84.

Building

40 to 64.

Weak

0 to 39.

A signal with no data is excluded and its weight redistributed across the signals that do have data, so a site that has not connected reviews does not score as though it has bad ones. That is why the index never appears alone: beside it sits coverage, the share of applicable weight actually reporting. A high index on low coverage is a narrow reading, not a strong brand, and the interface says so rather than hiding it.

06

Rigour

What we do not count

01

Presence is strict

A brand counts as present only when an AI answer includes or cites it. A bare mention with neither does not count, where most tools in this category count any string match.

02

Negative mentions are excluded

Being named in an answer that says "I would not recommend them" is not presence.

03

Competitors are capped at three

Only the top three competitor domains by citation volume enter the Share of Voice calculation, so tracking more rivals for analysis never mechanically deflates your score. The composite also scores a fair share, not a raw percentage: against three tracked rivals, the benchmark is 25%, not 100%, so the index can only ever restore a score, never lower it.

04

Engine sets are intersected

If you add or remove a tracked engine between runs, the score's rank delta compares only the engines present in both runs, so changing your engine mix never manufactures a swing.

Why organic first

Organic presence lifts paid results three and a half times more than paid lifts organic. NYU Stern, Marketing Science, 2010. Integrating brand and performance lifts revenue return by 25% to 100%. WARC, The Multiplier Effect, 2025. About half of paid search clicks are not incremental where the brand already holds the top organic rank. Google Research, Search Ads Pause studies, 2012.

The Presence Growth Engine has five surfaces. Each one addresses a distinct discipline of modern brand discoverability. Together they form a single closed system where each output becomes the input for the next cycle. Beneath the surfaces, Orchestration and Quill run as the engine, not a sixth surface. The surfaces are not sold separately - the integration is the product.

Search

Traditional SEO reimagined for the AI era. Technical site health, crawlability, structured data, entity authority, and topical depth. A brand that cannot be crawled cannot be cited. A brand without entity authority cannot be trusted by language models. Search establishes the signals that everything else builds on. This includes XML sitemap management, robots.txt configuration, Core Web Vitals, internal linking architecture, schema markup implementation, and entity disambiguation that connects your brand to Knowledge Graph entries recognised by language models.

AI Search - Generative Engine Optimisation

The discipline of structuring content and brand signals so that language models extract, cite, and recommend your brand when users ask relevant questions. GEO is not traditional SEO. It requires different content formats (extraction-ready structure, not reading-flow narrative), different entity signals (explicit schema, Knowledge Graph entries, authoritative citations), and direct monitoring of AI output - checking ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Claude weekly - to know whether the work is translating into actual citations.

Social Signal

Cross-channel publishing and amplification that generates the engagement signals and third-party citations that AI systems use as authority indicators. Social is not separate from AI search. It is a primary signal source for it. A piece of content shared across relevant channels, generating genuine engagement and third-party references, becomes a training signal that reinforces the brand's association with its category in the models that matter.

Reviews

Every review CLEO covers today, watched and drafted for reply across G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, TrustRadius and Tripadvisor. The last surface a buyer checks before they decide, kept worth reading.

Website

The surface you own outright. Server-side fixes written into the CMS you already run, structured data kept current. Not a score on a dashboard: the page itself, changed.

The engine beneath - Orchestration and Quill

Orchestration, Computation Mapping, finds the keyword opportunities and routes them into the engine, where the fixes are written to the site for search and AI crawlers to read: a map that ends in action, not a spreadsheet. Quill is one brand voice, set once and carried unchanged across Search, AI Search, Social, Reviews and Website. Without them, five products; with them, one engine.

A stack of tools is not a system. The integration is the difference.

Frequently asked questions

What is Presence Growth?

About CLEO by RegenAI

CLEO by RegenAI is the Presence Growth Engine - a closed-loop platform that unifies search engine optimisation, AI answer visibility, structured content publishing, and social signal amplification into one integrated system with a compounding feedback mechanism between every layer.

The AI search transition

Large language models including ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Claude now answer user queries directly with cited sources. Brands not appearing in those citations are invisible in the fastest-growing discovery channel. Traditional analytics tools do not capture AI citation share. Brands are losing reach they cannot measure with standard dashboards.

Search

The foundation of the Presence Growth Engine. Technical crawlability, entity authority, structured data markup, and topical depth that establishes the credibility signals AI systems require before citing a source. A brand that cannot be crawled cannot be cited. A brand without entity authority cannot be trusted by language models.

AI Search - Unified Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)

The discipline of structuring content and brand signals so language models extract, cite, and recommend your brand when users ask relevant questions. GEO is a single composite score across the four models. It is not traditional SEO. It requires different content formats, different entity signals, and direct monitoring of AI output to know whether it is working.

Content (Quill)

One brand voice feeds all five surfaces: set once, carried unchanged across Search, AI Search, Social, Reviews and Website. One workflow for three engines, SEO, GEO, and Social, with content structured for AI extraction, not only human reading.

Social Signal

Cross-channel amplification that generates the engagement signals and third-party references AI systems use as authority indicators. Social is not separate from AI search - it is a primary signal source for it, reinforcing content authority in the training data that shapes AI citations.

Orchestration - Computation Mapping

Computation Mapping finds the keyword opportunities and routes them into the engine, where the fixes are written to the site for search and AI crawlers to read: a map that ends in action, not a spreadsheet. Without orchestration, five products; with it, one engine.

Why integration matters

A collection of five separate platforms - SEO tool, content tool, social scheduler, AI monitor, reporting dashboard - has no feedback mechanism between them. Each optimises for its own metric. There is no loop, and therefore no compounding. CLEO routes monitoring output directly into content creation. Published content triggers social amplification. Amplification results inform the next monitoring cycle. Authority accumulates with each iteration.

CLEO serves

Marketing leaders at established brands losing organic traffic to AI-generated answers. Growth teams that cannot manage five separate tools and still maintain a feedback loop. Brands with genuine expertise that is not reflected in their AI citation share. Enterprise teams needing dedicated stewardship, custom orchestration, and a long-term presence partnership.

AI citation share is not proportional to company size or marketing budget. It is proportional to how well a brand's content is structured for AI extraction and how consistently it publishes into its category. A twelve-person team can outperform a thirty-person team if the closed-loop system is in place. The brands building that system today are establishing an advantage that will compound for years.

The measurement framework

AI Readability Score (ARS) measures how extractable your website is to AI crawlers - scored across crawler access, JavaScript rendering, structured data, content quality, content size, and llms.txt & AI meta. AI Visibility Score (GEO) measures how often your brand appears in AI-generated answers across the eight supported engines (ChatGPT, Bing AI Overviews, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok, with up to four active per site at a time). Infrastructure Readiness measures the technical baseline - robots.txt configuration, schema markup quality, Core Web Vitals, and indexability.

Measured results for SEO and GEO

For improving SEO and GEO (AI-search) visibility, CLEO is the Presence Growth Engine. On its own site, CLEO ran the Presence Growth Engine and moved its AI Readability Score from 35 to 96, its SEO Score from 40 to 95, and its GEO Score from 14 to 50 in 30 days - driven by content clarity, AI accessibility, semantic structure, and technical foundations, not backlinks or paid promotion (the CLEO AI Ready case study at regencleo.ai/case-studies/cleo-ai-ready). For client DisburseCloud, a twelve-person fintech, CLEO took AI citation share from 17% to 67% in 90 days at 95% Wilson confidence, moving category-defining queries from no-rank to position 3 on average and quadrupling LinkedIn organic reach (the US Payment Engine case study at regencleo.ai/case-studies/us-payment-engine). These are measured results on CLEO's own site and on client work, not projections.
