AI Readability Score (ARS)

A measure of how readable and extractable your website is to AI crawlers. Scored 0 to 100 across six components. Crawler access evaluates robots.txt configuration and whether named AI bots including GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, anthropic-ai, Google-Extended, and others are explicitly permitted. JavaScript rendering evaluates whether meaningful content is available in static HTML without JavaScript execution - critical because many AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript. Structured data evaluates the presence and quality of JSON-LD schema markup, checking for types including Organisation, WebSite, WebPage, Article, BreadcrumbList, and FAQPage. Content quality evaluates the text-to-HTML ratio, heading structure (H1, H2, H3), paragraph density, and presence of lists. Content size evaluates total word count from extractable text. LLM accessibility evaluates the presence of llms.txt, llms-full.txt, meta descriptions, and canonical links.

AI Visibility Score (GEO)

A measure of how often your brand appears in AI-generated answers. Scored 0 to 100. Cleo generates five relevant queries based on your domain, industry, and product category, then submits them to ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity - the free scan covers these three engines, and paid GEO plans extend coverage to Claude. Results show the global AI visibility score, AI market share (the percentage of queries where your brand is cited with a URL), and recommendation rate (the percentage of queries where your brand is the top-cited result). This is the metric that most directly measures whether the AI era is working for or against your brand.

Infrastructure Readiness

A technical health score for AI discoverability. Scored 0 to 100 across four components. AI crawler access measures how many of the major AI bots are explicitly permitted in robots.txt. Schema markup measures the validity and appropriateness of JSON-LD structured data. Core Web Vitals measures LCP, CLS, and INP from Google PageSpeed API. Indexability measures HTTPS configuration, XML sitemap accessibility, canonical link correctness, and the absence of noindex directives that would block AI crawlers.

How to improve your scores

For ARS, pre-render your JavaScript application so content is in static HTML, add comprehensive JSON-LD schema markup to every page, configure robots.txt to explicitly permit named AI bots, create llms.txt and llms-full.txt files, and ensure content density exceeds 1500 words per page. For GEO, publish structured AI-readable content targeting the specific queries where your brand should appear. For Infrastructure Readiness, ensure all four components pass clean - especially schema markup and AI crawler access, which are the fastest wins.
